MIT Sloan expects its students to adhere to the highest standards of academic and professional conduct. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to address issues of inappropriate personal or academic conduct quickly and constructively. As indicated above, MIT has a “multiple options/multiple points of entry” philosophy with regard to disciplinary processes.

Per MIT guidelines, if academic misconduct is suspected, faculty are expected to contact the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards and your corresponding MIT Sloan program office. If misconduct is found to have occurred, possible consequences may include academic action (grade reduction, failing grade for assignment, or failing grade for course) and/or disciplinary action ranging from a warning to suspension to expulsion, in severe cases.

Cases of professional or personal misconduct typically are addressed via the following channels:

• STEP ONE: The MBA Program Assistant Dean, the Student Life Office Director, or the Career Development Office Assistant Dean
• STEP TWO: The Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Master’s Programs
• STEP THREE: The MIT Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS) or the Institute Discrimination and Harassment Response Office (IDHR).
