Conflict Resolution and Assistance

While the MIT Sloan graduate student experience will be a predominantly positive and rewarding one, the environment can occasionally be challenging or stressful. Students are thus encouraged to raise any concerns they have, especially if they feel they have been treated improperly or unfairly. MIT (and thus MIT Sloan) has a “multiple options/multiple points of entry” philosophy regarding complaint handling. There are many offices and organizations across MIT that members of the community can seek out if they have concerns.

Students who wish to discuss their concerns or file grievances are encouraged to use the following channels at MIT Sloan:

  • STEP ONE: An advisor in their Program Office, the Student Life Office, or the Career Development Office and/or a representative of the MIT Sloan Senate
  • STEP TWO: The MBA Program Assistant Dean, the Student Life Office Director, or the Career Development Office Assistant Dean
  • STEP THREE: The Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Master’s Programs

MIT Sloan students may also wish to consult representatives of the following MIT offices: the Office of Graduate Education (OGE), the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the Ombuds OfficeMIT Medical Student Mental Health and Counseling Services, the Chaplaincy, or the Dean on Call (after hours).
